Dr Andrea Shepperson
Dr Andrea Shepperson is one of New Zealand’s best known dentists, for her role in clinical advancement and dental education. She developed an interest in tooth wear after observing so much of it in her patients, and started researching the subject and providing durable solutions for her patients.
Recognised for her international role in the field, she published her first textbook on Tooth Wear in 2023, and lectures internationally on the subject. Using the latest digital technology and AI tools, she is actively involved in the diagnosis and monitoring of tooth wear. A Faculty Member of the Kings College London Distance Teaching Masters is Aesthetic Dentistry, she is also a Mentor and Alumni of the internationally renowned Kois Center in Seattle, USA, and an Honorary Life Member of the NZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. She has been involved in scientific and clinical publications, webinars and expert panels in the development of dentistry.

Dr Andrea Shepperson has a special interest in reconstructing worn mouths or damaged smiles in patients. Tooth wear comes in many guises, and often the first sign of tooth wear is a change in appearance, teeth chipping or breaking and bites changing. She helps patients from all walks of life find solutions to rebuilding their mouths. Using dentistry’s newest technology such as digital design and manufacture, jaw tracking technology with Modjaw, we provide our patients with confidence and reassurance.
New materials and techniques, such as 3D printing, AI and novel materials, can help provide solutions that are flexible and affordable.
Dr Shepperson's skill is finding solutions to problems that may have been chronic oral health issues. She listens carefully, weighs clinical findings, working closely with other medical specialties to manage conditions that may be impacted by systemic health factors, such as gastric reflux disease and sleep apnoea.
She is also highly regarded for her knowledge of the prevention of dental disease. Many of her patients have benefited from a long-term plan, which has left them with peace of mind that they are disease-free, optimally restored and well-maintained for life.

Dr Shepperson's role extends to teaching dentists around the world about all aspects of dental materials, reconstructive and cosmetic dentistry.
The desire to practise dentistry at the highest level has led to close connections with dental industry leaders and some of the world's great clinicians in dentistry.
Recognised for her comprehensive and full-mouth approach to care, she is sought after for participating in global events and giving inspiring keynote addresses to organisations.
In 2020, Andrea opened her own dental training facility on Waiheke Island, Auckland, New Zealand. At The Shepperson Education Training Facility, Andrea runs courses that explore how and why we can do better dentistry for our patients, adding predictability, enjoyment and longevity and creating value for our work.
